Shoulder Pain and Auto Injury

Shoulder Pain is a common problem after a car crash, and it's something that Dr. Jung sees often in our Pinole office. Chiropractic can be very helpful for shoulder pain symptoms after a crash. Let's see what causes shoulder pain and why chiropractic works.

There are at least two ways that you can get shoulder pain after a car crash: by direct injury to the shoulder or by referred pain from the neck.

Direct damage can be caused by hitting your shoulder on a hard surface in the car during the crash, or can occur if you have a tight grip on the steering wheel during a rear end collision. With this type of trauma, you'll usually be aware of the pain shortly after the crash.

More frequently, Dr. Jung finds that shoulder or arm pain does not immediately appear after a collision, but starts a few days or weeks after the injury. This type of shoulder discomfort actually starts in the cervical spine. Injured muscles or ligaments in your spine can squeeze nerves in your neck, causing tingling, numbness, or soreness in your shoulder, elbow, or wrist.

We've worked with both kinds of shoulder problems in our Pinole office. This treatment involves chiropractic adjustments to restore your spine's natural mobility and exercises that strengthen your neck and shoulder.

Let us help you recover from shoulder pain. Dr. Jung has helped many people with the same condition, and we can probably help you, too. The first step is to get an accurate diagnosis to determine what's causing your pain and then we will determine an appropriate treatment plan of action.
